College Essay Workshops

The Telling Room offers a college essay workshop led by our college essay expert, Program Director Nick Whiston. Before coming to The Telling Room, Nick read applications for UC Berkeley and ran a college prep organization. Each workshop offers four hours of small-group instruction and individual revising support. Participants can finish the whole process (mostly) painlessly in this workshop and get a head start on their applications. Each session is limited to 12 students and all experience levels are welcome!

“Your help with my essays for both my undergrad and grad schools had a tremendous impact on how I presented myself to the schools . . . in my undergrad, a few days after arriving on campus, an admission officer approached me and remembered exactly what was on my essay, and said that it circulated the entire admission team and it was one of those essays she would never forget. In my grad school, I had the same conversation with the department head of my program and who later on ended up being my advisor and professor too. He remembered the details about my story, and said it was one of the most personable and well written pieces he’s read.” — Mohammed Albehadli
